Three years ago today we got married in Pismo Beach, California overlooking the Pacific Ocean. While there are a few things I wish I could have changed, like the fact that our DJ was ridiculously late or that the sun was in everyone's eyes, it was so special and perfect to me. The readings, most specifically, really touched my heart, because I'm a sap like that. Our officiant read the following passage at the end, right before she pronounced us husband and wife. It tied everything together better than a big ol' bow ever could.
As you stand together near the ocean tide,
may your love always be as constant and unchanging
as the never ending waves flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea.
Your love for each other came softly upon your hearts,
just as the sea foam comes softly upon the sand.
Just as there will never be a morning without the ocean's flow,
so there will never be a day without your love for each other.
As you pledge yourselves to each other today,
promise to be a loving husband - a loving wife -
always as unchanging and dependable as the tide.
As these waters nourish the earth and sustain life,
may your constant love for each other nourish and sustain you until the end of time.
Happy Anniversary Sara and Nick:) It was an amazing and beautiful location. Yes the sun was looking at us, but the view was breathtaking as was the ceremony.
