Blue Christmas Luncheon

I went to a work-related holiday luncheon today. In past years, there's always a special guest speaker. This year they wanted the special guest to be a surprise, so they put this on the program:

Special Guest................................................. ???

Everyone was, like, who in the fudge could it possibly be? The president? Kate Middleton? Joel Osteen? My guess was Santa Claus. We were all thinking they must have brought someone in that's REALLY special. Like, Bill Clinton special.

I like to think I had the best guess because the special guest was...

was...

Elvis!

Everyone went bananas. I kid you not. I was, like, am I really sitting here right now listening to a bad Elvis impersonator sing All Shook Up? While I'm on Clomid? Is this really my life right now? And as I pondered this question, I ate cake:

Even though my life would have been A-OK without ever sitting through that, it made me happy to see a coworker, an older lady, thoroughly enjoying the performance. She was singing along to songs I had never even heard of. And that warmed my heart. The free bottle of wine didn't hurt either.

  1. Was he the 1950s Elvis or the 1970s Elvis?

  2. OMG, I have no idea. He was much taller than Elvis and his white jumpsuit was too short for him. Did Elvis wear a white jumpsuit in the 50s or 70s?

  3. Yeah! I think his jump suit era was the 70s.

  4. Then I would say it was the 70s era Elvis, a hunka-hunka burnin' love.
